Perfect Teeth are Overrated

It's like when The Other Boleyn Girl came out and everyone was beause Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson were all pretty at their publicity events. I however, I just adore Keira Knightley and her style, and her new film The Edge of Love with Sienna Miller will bring plenty of great outfits to drool over.

Sienna looks terrible, I actually didn't recognise her in the photo on the right, I thought it was an aging Kate Moss or something. The glasses aren't too bad close up though, but I just hate grey and black stripes, they look way too cheap.

Kiera's outfit is low budget, her Luella-esque top's from Top Shop, but she's wearing florals!! And ankle booties that aren't scary like Sienna's are! And a Pencil Skirt! I would think wearing a pencil skit would be a little too conservative, especially since the Luella blouses were paired with high-waisted minis, but Kiera pulls it off so well. And I love her crooked toothy smile.

The scary ankle boots worn by Sienna,
contrasted with Kiera's nice oxfords (celebrity-gossip.net)

Wearing a jumpsuit here, while Sienna wears a flappy fringed dress Kiera wins again but I like how they coordinated their outfits. (justjared)

The Horrible Cliche

(just jared)

I cringed when I saw the new shoot for Vogue with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman on the set of Australia. It's so predictable and looks more safari than Australian. I guess they wanted to keep it in line with the period feel of the film, but I wish magazines would do more inventive shoots if they wanted things Aussie. At least the shoot is called 'Days of Heaven' and not 'The Great Outback' or something worse.

This is what I want to see more of. These pics aren't all taken in Australia/Australian themed, some were taken in Capri and at Gladstonbury and Jason Wu is there(!), but they have that laidback, endless summer, beach and sand feel. The best magazine for eds like that is RUSSH, but I think it's pretty hard to find if you don't live in Australia.

2 or 3 years on, I still love those Chloe wedges

Zippora! I used to horse ride, but in extremely unfashionable outfits that must not be mentioned on a fashion blog

Jason Wu and Sasha from the lastest W editorial. I don't know about other countries, but sitting on your deck in white chairs is sooooo Australian

tfs, not sure which magazine this came from though. The sad thing is it's winter here and I don't even live on the coast.

I had a paddling pool just like this when I was little (this was in an ed short during the Gladstonbury festival with Gemma)

On a side note, my uncle's brother is this published writer and rewrote the Australia screenplay and he and Baz Lurhmann are friends now and Baz has stayed at his beachouse! Yes it's very sad, I've never met anyone famous so things like this excite me.

On paper or on a hanger?

My copy of 'Fashion Illustration by Fashion Designers' is hopefully on its way. While I was reading reviews of it on Amazon I had a look through the picture gallery and immediately recognised that white Philip Lim rose dress... wasn't it so popular it was sold out in a number of days and is no longer for sale?... something like that. The other dress wasn't hard to identify either... I probably waste too much time on style.com.

Which form of the dresses do you prefer? I just LOVE the way Lim draws his roses... but then again, you can't wear paper... or can you?

UK Elle 2006... I remember this issue so well, it was the only thing I had to read when I was in Prague because I bought it at the airport, and then I threw it away because it was too heavy. Robert Ryan, who made this paper cut didn't know a thing about the construction of dresses when Vogue asked him to do paper cut. After he cut out his design, the paper was carefully glued onto the netting of the dress.... wow.

Watermelon pink

"The thing about a tuxedo is that it is virile and feminine at the same time" - Catherine Deneuve
I finally decided to start my own fashion blog after being intimidated by the likes of fashion verbatim's Adrian and red carpet fashion awards' Fashion Critic. It was a kind of rash move while procrastinating, and if I spend any more time thinking up posts I will very likely fail law school.

So right now I'll just comment on other blogs ( I didn't have a google account before) and will start proper-blogging in mid June!
